Frankestine

I was reminded on the weekend of how important it is to attend to
challenging behaviours in childhood,BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. My
youngest daughter was telling me of a fellow student who was
creating problems in the group work they had to do. She said it
was so obvious that as an only child this girl had ‘thrown a
tantrum’ all her life, merely to get her own way  - and had
clearly succeeded since she was still doing it, albeit a
20 year old version of a frankenstein.

This young woman had never been shown another way and been
allowed to carry her irresponsible behaviour into adulthood,
creating havoc and discord in the workplace, and learning
environments. No one else in the group wants to work with her,
and possibly worst of all, she is incapable of having her talents
fully realised because of her inability to collaborate.

As a parent, I find this really distressing. It is our aim as
parents to enable the full flourishing of our children. It is
the aim of our communities to safeguard this. It is the aim of
our nations to enable to the full flourishing of our children’s
creativity and talents. Therein lies our lifeblood, our future,
our rich and creative future lives as individuals, communities,
nations and as a healthy vibrant planet
