Purify Your Body To Purify Your Mind

Having a strong, clear mind you can count on when you need it doesn’t depend only on intelligence, but also on having a healthy body. If your health is fragile, if you get sick often, it becomes a lot harder to concentrate on what you’re doing.

When you’re sick, much of your energy is used to heal your body, deal with pain, and recover your lost health. That means your energy is no longer available for use by your mind. And when that happens, you can’t function at maximum efficiency, or exploit all your potential. When you’re weak, the performance of both your body and your mind suffers.

Many scientific studies have proven that this is true: the health of your body has a direct impact on your mind, and vice-versa.

Medical science has known for a long time that some diseases are caused by negative states of mind. They’re called “psychosomatic” illnesses, from the Greek ‘psyche’ which means mind, and ‘soma’ which means body.

To prevent these kinds of illnesses, we have to regularly rid our body of the toxins that accumulate in us day after day, toxins we may not sufficiently eliminate on a daily basis. A healthy, strong body results in a healthy, strong mind.

A Healthy Mind Depends On A Healthy Body
When you purify your body you clean your cells, especially those in your heart and brain, your two most important organs.

Your heart allows blood to carry nutrients to all parts of your body. Your brain enables you to perceive and understand the world around you, and use your understanding to be more free. Thus, although thoughts may be immaterial, they need the support of the body, and especially the brain, to find expression. The full use of your senses also depends on the vitality of your cerebral faculties. From that point-of-view, purifying your body’s cells by doing some physical house-cleaning is essential.

To clean your body you don’t need to use any special products or miracle remedies. All you have to do is follow a method that’s as old as the world. It’s also free, and you’ll consume a lot less in any given amount of time (which will save you money).

What I’m talking about is fasting!

Get Rid of Your Oudated Ideas
When we mention fasting, most people immediately think of privation, suffering, religious penitence, and so on. They imagine that the practice is reserved for people who follow some strict religious discipline, who voluntarily deprive themselves of food to gain forgiveness, or who want to promote some cause that’s important to them.

Therapeutic fasting has nothing to do with the suffering that people impose on themselves for religious reasons, or to attain a political goal.

Fasting isn’t something confined to religion, practiced by monks who want to purify themselves and atone for their sins. Many scientists and experts in nutrition have been recommending fasting for as long as they’ve been practicing. They see it as a healthy activity with no religious connotations whatsoever, simply as a form of therapy that’s been proven effective time and time again.

That’s the view I want to present to you in this Good News Letter: fasting should be done voluntarily, with an understanding of its therapeutic principles.

Solid - Not Liquid - Fasting
Therapeutic fasting doesn’t mean you have to deprive yourself of everything, only solid foods. In other words, although you shouldn’t eat, you can drink liquids, the basic one being water, but including mildly sweetened fruit or energy drinks. If you drink fruit juice, the best thing is to prepare them yourself at home, using only fresh (organic if possible) fruit, and no sweeteners.

One-to-Three Liters of Water A Day
A good way to clean your body of toxins, whether you’re fasting or not, is to drink one to three liters of water every day.

Adapt the amount of water you drink to the season – you’ll only need a liter and half in winter, while three liters per day is recommended in summer.

A liter of water really isn’t very much, and the more you drink the more often you’ll go to the toilet, allowing your kidneys to eliminate more toxins.

Obviously you should be sure to drink enough water even when you’re not fasting. If you want to keep your body – and your mind – healthy, I recommend drinking water as a regular part of your daily hygiene. Your body will thank you for it your whole life long!

Limit How Long You Fast
When you start fasting there’s absolutely no question of depriving yourself of food for weeks, or even months at a time. If you’re a beginner, fast for one day a month. When you get used to it, you can fast for one day a week. Many dietary experts advise people to fast regularly, say once a month, to gain maximum benefit. The practice is recognized as one of the best ways to purify your body, and your mind.

I recommend a 100% natural method that’s effective, and very easy to do. You can fast this way without losing any physical or mental energy, and without having to fight the desire to snack (which is the worst thing you can do if you’re dieting or fasting) or even eat a meal.

You can go on this simple fast when you’re working, without anyone noticing, and without lacking the energy you need to perform your tasks well. You may even feel a surge of physical and mental energy that makes it easier than normal for you to do your job.

You'll Be Filled With New Energy

Under ordinary circumstances your energy may sometimes ebb after you eat a heavy meal. Everyone has to deal with the problem, especially if you tend to eat too much at a sitting.
Try to remember a meal where you or someone else ate too much. You probably wanted to take a nap, not run a marathon!
During a controlled fast like the one described below, you won’t have to worry about losing energy. On the contrary, depriving yourself of food for a short time should endow you with more energy than you knew you had, both physically and mentally. You’ll be able to accomplish things that would normally be beyond your abilities, and your mind will be sharper than ever, since a period of fasting is an excellent way to stimulate creativity and imagination.

Light Fasting
There are many kinds of fasts. Some last longer than others, and each one has its own set of rules to follow. The one I recommend is easy and effective:

-    Breakfast: all the fruit you want
-    Lunch: fruit or a green salad (not both!)
-    Supper: same as breakfast

Whenever possible opt for fresh fruits, preferably organic, especially those grown in your own region.

Anyone can do this kind of light fasting for one day, and it’s a good way to train yourself for more difficult regimens.

Fast for only one day the first time you do it. When you feel ready, try it for two days, and then work yourself up to a maximum of three days, which is enough to thoroughly clean your body, and improve your health.

More Intense Fasting
When you’re used to doing the fast for three days, you can move on to the next phase, which should be easy if you were able to follow my instructions so far.

This time, choose only one type of fruit, and eat as much of it as you want, morning, noon and night.

Three days on this fast will clean your body even more thoroughly than the first kind of light fasting described above.

Fruits are one of the best things you can eat to get rid of toxins.

Fruits recommended for this type of fast include melons, grapes, oranges and coconut.

P.S: Fast for one to three days, up to a maximum of five days, never longer! During both types of fasting, make sure you drink a lot of water.

To successfully create your own reality

You have to be able to let go of your attachment to the things you want.

We call this aspect of the manifesting process "Letting Go." Next to knowing what you want, letting go is the single most important ingredient in the manifesting recipe.

But what does it mean?

Letting go has two different but equally important meanings. First, it applies to forgetting about whatever it was you asked for. Once you've done your manifesting routine, then you can relax and forget about it. If your intentions are clear and precise, then the universe will bring you what you want.

On the other hand, letting go is also about trust. If you believe that the universe will bring you what you ask for, then you have to have faith that it will happen. Any doubts or negative messages that you send out will only make it more difficult for the cosmic energy to do its thing.

Everyone Has to Start Somewhere

"You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water."
Rabindranath Tagore
Jim Carrey took a job as a janitor at a tire factory at age 15 when his father lost his job. He also worked as a security guard. To relieve his stress, he visited local comedy clubs, which instilled his love of comedy - and prepared him for a blockbuster career.
Everyone has to start somewhere. Like Jim Carrey, I started by pushing a broom at an envelope manufacturing company and worked my way into sales in six months. My career path took a different turn, but all in all, I'd say my humble start led to a life I love.
You never know where your career will go once you get your foot in the door and learn about different businesses.
Many famous people started out very small before they hit it big. The main thing is they started and got experience. Pride didn't get in the way - they had to pay the rent, eat, and work toward their ultimate goals. Consider these examples.
Before Brad Pitt was a leading man in the movies, he worked various odd jobs, including driving limos, moving refrigerators and dressing up as a giant chicken to attract customers to a local restaurant.
Another one-time janitor is Stephen King. He job was cleaning a girls' locker room, which later became his inspiration for his bestselling novel Carrie.
Rachael Ray started out working at the candy counter at Macy's in New York City. She later managed the fresh-foods department, which helped pave the way to her sizzling cooking career.
Donald Trump collected soda bottles for the deposit money and later went around with rent collectors to learn about their business. Do you suppose that's where he got the idea for The Apprentice?
David Letterman, Diane Sawyer, Raquel Welch, and George Carlin were all weather people on TV.
Michael Dell and Suze Orman washed dishes at restaurants.
The late George Steinbrenner, who later owned the New York Yankees among other businesses, helped his older siblings raise the family's chickens, which he would also kill and dress for customers.
Working at ice cream shops is part of the resumes for Julia Roberts, Lucille Ball, and Robin Williams, who also was a street mime before he got into acting.
And I'd wager that every one of these fabulously successful people would tell you that they still remember the lessons they learned from those early labors - even if one of those lessons was that they wanted more out of life.
Few people would describe their first jobs as their dream jobs. The work is usually hard, the pay is never enough, and the hours are lousy. The experience, however, is invaluable.
As college graduates start to learn the realities of the business world, I tell them that they will have to pay their dues. There is no substitute for real-world experience. Hard work is still a requirement for success. You can't start at the top and work your way up.
In this economy, I'm frequently hearing stories about folks who are starting over in their careers due to downsizing, restructuring, technology, or belly-up businesses. Most don't have to start at the bottom, but they aren't making lateral moves either.
My advice is always the same whether you are starting up or starting over: Keep your options open. Don't discount the value of any working experience. Expand your network at every opportunity, because you never know who might know someone who could use your talents and skills. Volunteer some time to get more and varied experience. Make sure you have a presence on social networking sites, especially LinkedIn and Facebook.
Perhaps the most important tip I can pass along is this: Never be afraid to ask for help. There are plenty of people who have created successful businesses, and even more who have built successful careers. Learning from others is essential, no matter how much you have learned from your own experience.
Finally, don't be afraid to dream. Long before Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney dropped out of school at age 16 to join the Army, but was rejected because of his age. He became a Red Cross ambulance driver in World War I instead. He wanted to be an artist when he came home, and with determination, an entertainment empire was born. For Walt Disney, "a dream is a wish your heart makes."

WHAT IS?

Have you noticed the things you got handled you keep handling?
That's because your belief is congruent so your pattern of thought
and your expectations keep perpetuating the same things. The Law of
Attraction, which is the fundamental creative law of the universe,
says that the frequency you are emitting is constantly being
matched by other frequencies that are the same.  So when you feel
the way you feel and you don't consciously change the thoughts that
cause you to feel the way you do, then you continue to experience
this habit of thought.

Unfortunately, most people do not change their patterns of belief
because most people perpetuate their patterns of belief through
their observation of WHAT IS.  Here is what's happening: WHAT IS
surrounds you, then you observe it, then you offer more vibration
about it and the Law of Attraction gives you more of WHAT IS which
you observe and offer a vibration about it so the Law of Attraction
gives you more of WHAT IS, etc.

Then you compound the problem by saying that, "My life experience
has taught me that WHAT IS - IS!  This is fact. This is just the
way it is".

That may or may not be true.  It may be JUST THE WAY IT IS, but
what you need to understand is that JUST THE WAY IT IS, is
absolutely changeable, but you can't change JUST THE WAY IT IS if
you keep observing JUST THE WAY IT IS!

So how to you change this pattern?  You change it by choice.  You
choose to look at things the way you WANT them to be.  You shift
your vibrational pattern by caring more about the way you FEEL
then you do about the "truth" or the "facts" that you are
observing.  The way you FEEL is what activates the Law of
Attraction. If you do whatever you can to feel good and focus on
what you want instead of the WAY IT IS, you will attract what you
want.  If you focus on THE WAY IT IS, you will attract more of the
WAY IT IS. It's as simple as that

Use Self-Awakening to Stop Useless Aching

Key Lesson: Every destructive act ever committed against oneself or another -- every self-wrecking habit, every dark decision that ever caused the earth or her creatures to suffer -- began with a single false thought mistaken as being true.

Uncover the Root of Destructive Relationships
Anything active within us -- by whatever name it is given or that it calls itself -- that stands up within us and explains to us why we have the "right" to ache or hate, or why we need to stay in a destructive relationship as either the abused or abuser, is set against what is good in us and for us. Further, this self-wrecking nature that both creates and sustains these codependent relationships requires our willing captivity as one of the conditions it needs to keep us from growing into what God intends for us to be. It wins this willingness of ours through deception. Can we begin to see why saints and sages from the beginning of time have always cried out, "Wake up! The dream we dream does not belong to us!"?
The truth is that there is nothing in the universe that can stop us from growing... except for one thing: our unconscious identification with an habitual, mechanical sense of self produced by a mistaken self-image -- a "self," it is worth noting, that for all these years has found a way to make peace with an unconscious nature whose pleasure it is to pressure us into ruinous relationships of one kind or another.
We have not understood why we feel punished, but now we are beginning to wake up. We have been listening to a misleading voice within us that always comes up with new reasons for why we feel the way we do. Guided by these false conclusions we embrace yet more painful illusions. The only way to end this parade of empty explanations and the captivity they help to induce is to realize its root cause.
The suffering inherent in any condition created by unconscious destructive relationship is due to one thing. It is the effect of our having forgotten who we really are. This is why we are so anxious for other people to confirm us, to tell us who we are through their behavior towards us. Even the people who withhold their smiles from us tell us who we are! And, for his indifference, we are content to know ourselves as a victim of their uncaring hearts even as we ravage ourselves with resentment for their perceived insensitivity.
We have uncovered the real root of codependency, whatever its form may be. Its dark seed in us is that we have forgotten our original nature. We are asleep to our true self in God. And until we can begin to remember outright our created title that grants us freedom, the pain of our captivity will go on because we continue to participate in its creation.

Meat-Free BBQ: A Healthy Solution for the Old Summer Stand-By

By Lasara Firefox Allen

Get Ready for the Summer With a Vegan BBQ Feast

We all love a good old-fashioned barbecue. There’s nothing quite like the grill sizzling while the kids run amok and the grown-ups sit and sip a summer cocktail and get some good catch-up in. If you are ready for a health commitment that’s good for you, and good for the planet, here’s a new twist on a classic pastime: the vegan grill.
Not sure about veganism? The BBQ is an easy and delectable way to ease into a plant-based diet. Here are some easy ideas to start with –no special skills required!
The Grilled Squash Platter
Summer squash and zucchini are abundant in the summer months. If you have a garden, or have neighbors with a garden, you probably have access to more summer squash varieties than you know what to do with. A grilled squash mix is easy to make, and tasty to eat. Also, between the greens and yellows you have part of your healthy rainbow of nutrients taken care of for the day.
I like to toss my squash in olive oil, salt, pepper, savory, and oregano. Slice your squash about an eighth of an inch thick. Toss in marinade, let it sit for just a few minutes, and get it on the grill. The oil will offer that comforting sizzle that lets you know that summer’s in full swing, while the healthy olive oil will offer you good cholesterol, rather then the bad-for-you kind.
The Portabello Burger
I think of the grilled portabello more as a steak than a burger. I like mine best cut up in strips and eaten by itself, or topped with some of my delicious Tangy Vegan Aioli. However, a nice, fresh, perfectly burger-size grilled portabello mushroom will fit a bun like they were made for each other. This is another super easy to start with option for your meatless grill.
1. Wash mushrooms (one per person), and cut the stem even with the cap.
2. The simple marinade recipe is equal parts olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
3. Marinate for an hour.
4. Grill for about five minutes per side. If you want to, you can get more fancy with the marinade. Add garlic and onion powder to taste. Pepper if you like a little bite. Liquid smoke if you like to add more “grill” flavor to your grilled burger.
There are many, many more meatless options to add in as you get more comfortable with your meat-free adventure, but these simple summer options are tasty, easy, and sure to please.
Oh, and that cocktail I mentioned earlier? Here’s my favorite: a Fresh Apple-Ginger Spritzer. Juice four apples and one ½ inch of ginger per person. Mix ½ glass fresh juice with ½ glass sparkling mineral water, pour over ice, and enjoy a refreshing afternoon burst of flavor. Good, and good for you

From Victim to Victor, From Darkness to Light

By Carmen HonackerWhy do we tend to believe that some unknown, exterior source is responsible, every time something bad happens in our life? We feel out of control, “unlucky,” and worse, after a while we completely give up and no longer take any responsibility at all, because we are that convinced that someone or something else is causing all of it.
I used to think that I was born under some unlucky star. I used to think that it didn’t matter what I did (or didn’t do for that matter); I would not and could not succeed. I figured that happiness belonged to a lucky few, who had some kind of secret, or were chosen by some invisible, supernatural lottery; the same lottery that had provided me with the ass card (sorry, a German phrase that will always make me laugh).
As long as I believed this, I kept creating it. Nothing worked for me, because I would approach anything and everything already feeling defeated, and knowing that I would end up losing. I felt that I had every right to be a victim. I had plenty of reason to support the notion that I deserved to feel low, not good enough and undeserving. There is a certain self-righteousness, stubbornness and almost peace in telling yourself that you are not to blame. And as long as this was my mental reality, no one could convince me or teach me otherwise.
So how did I change my mind? I guess I started out by observing “happy” people. I really wanted to know what they had that I didn’t. After a while I realized that they were courageous, honest with themselves, actively taking charge of their life and never accepting defeat or seeing themselves as a victim. Some had gone through horrible experiences, involving death and true tragedy (by “true” I mean out-of-their-control circumstances), most of us would have not recovered from. And here they were, finding the strength to go on, fairly untainted, never turning mean, spiteful, vicious or whiny. Whatever they had, I wanted that!
Within all the tragedy I watched those dearest to me go through, I learned a valuable lesson: life may deal you the worst hand ever, but that doesn’t mean you have to turn into a victim or take it out on others. I also learned that life is what it is and doesn’t require my actions to make it worse or harder on me. Some of us have to work harder on creating lasting happiness than others. This is neither good, nor bad, it just is. I didn’t want to self-sabotage and self-defeat anymore. I didn’t want to be a person who doesn’t contribute, wallows in self-pity and burdens an already sick planet with more negative energy.
I sat down and thought about how often I had undersold and undermined myself. How often I had lowered my standards, my expectations and dreams, downplayed my own abilities, and true being in order to fit in, be liked or “loved.” I had overstepped my own boundaries consistently, and hence allowed everyone else to overstep them, too. I realized that my life and where I was at on all levels was done by my own creation. I had been given the ass card growing up, but then had been holding on to it throughout adulthood.
I took that card and tore it up. I went to hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, yoga, weight training and running. I started reading again and packed all my time outside of work into things that were healthy and good for me. I had to outsmart myself and leave no room for going back to any old patterns. I distanced myself from people I had long suspected as being detrimental to my well-being; and after I did all that I started sending on a different channel, or a new vibrational frequency.
Persistence, hard work, will-power and determination carried me through the hard work; which soon turned into less work and more fun. I had pushed away all the dark energy and replaced it with light; the rewards are nothing short of a miracle.
I am now my own best friend. I know my self-worth and I am the master of my own destiny. I create every single day and I am no longer a passive bystander. I am also no longer a victim, no matter what life throws at me. And oddly enough, the more I keep doing this, the less my trials have become. I run on high energy most of the time. When I get disgruntled or annoyed with someone or a situation, I find a way to put it into the right perspective and deal with it accordingly.
I have more heart, and am more emotional than ever; while at the same time no longer feeling emotionally out of control! I can share joy, laughter and happiness, and rarely feel anger, annoyance or sadness. People tell me I have a bounce in my step, and that I brighten any room I step into.
When I changed the paradigm from victim to victory, I essentially shifted from darkness to light
